Firing & pickup
Only staff operate the kiln. You put the piece in the designated spot, we take care of the firing and email you when it is your turn again.
Why two firings
- Bisque firing (the first) turns dry clay into a hard, porous body that holds its shape and soaks up glaze.
- Glaze firing (the second) after glazing melts the glaze into glass. The piece is finished, strong and watertight.
Glazing in between is up to you. A piece must be completely dry before the first firing, so the time between dropping it off and firing also depends on its size and thickness.
Communication by email
We inform you about every step by email to the address in your profile. The emails contain the deadlines for glazing or picking up your piece, and the access codes. Check your spam folder now and then and keep the email in your profile up to date.
